JOB DESCRIPTION

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly self-motivated Psychologist to join Student Support Services (SSS) working in the Department of Education (DET) Western Melbourne Area - based in the Wyndham area. SSS Psychologists work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support students, families, teachers and schools. You will provide services to students and schools to improve developmental and learning outcomes and support student health and wellbeing. You will work collaboratively with other professionals in respect to complex cases, and support teachers in the development of programs to improve student learning, particularly for students with additional needs. Flexibility, the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and the capability to work autonomously when required are key requirements for this position

Student Support Services (SSS teams comprises psychologists, speech pathologists and social workers. They are part of a multidisciplinary Western Melbourne Area team, building the capacity of schools to support children and young people to access their education. SSS do vital work in supporting students' health and wellbeing - particularly our most vulnerable students - and SSS are critical to building an excellent education system that reduces the impact of disadvantage.

The purpose of Student Support Services (SSS) is to assist children and young people facing a range of barriers to learning, to access their educational and developmental potential through the provision of a range of strategies and specialised support at an individual, group, school and network level.

The role will suit a psychologist with experience working in a multidisciplinary team, within a context of complex circumstances, with school aged children and young people with additional needs and their educators and families. Senior practitioners in the team have a leadership role in supporting the work of all team members. This is an exciting opportunity to have an impact on the Department's vision to develop an integrated approach to learning and development for all Victorian children and their families, from birth to adulthood.
