About the role

Reporting to the Training Design and Development Manager the Instructional designer will be required to provide professional and consultative services to the Pacific National business in the continuous educational improvement of training and development resources by researching, designing, developing and monitoring curricula and programs within a quality assured framework. This is a key role within the training team and will have you contributing to several projects from day one.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content eg (audio, video, simulations, role play, games etc)
  • Work with subject matter experts to identify target audiences training needs.
  • Set instructional end goals and create content that matches them.
  • Visualise instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product.
  • Analyse and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design.
  • Devise modes of assessments, such as tests and quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course
  • Maintain project documentation, course version history, and Learning Management System.

About you

This role requires someone with a desire to create engaging content, taking e-learning to a new level, a genuine opportunity to bring your creative flair to the table. 

In addition, you’ll be expected to demonstrate:

  • Previous working experience in instructional design
  • Must have experience building an end to end learning product using several types of eLearning authoring tools.
  • Accredited training experience in a learning design role.
  • In depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
  • Mapping and storyboarding experience
  • Strong stakeholder management.
  • HTML and Flash programming knowledge.
  • Visual design skills (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts.
  • Degree in instructional design education technology or similar field.
