We are looking for an Assistant Educator to be a part of our Cape Kids Childcare Centre. This service provides a quality educational experience to young children to which encourages expression of their own ideas through play and learning. The centre is uniquely owned and operated by a global mining company.

This is a great opportunity for a qualified Educator to work alongside and support the teaching staff of the Service. Reporting to the Director Cape Kids in a collaborative community, you will:

Respect and provide support and inclusion for all children, regardless of gender, cultural background or socio-economic status;
Act as a positive role model, demonstrating appropriate behaviour and language.
Provide adequate supervision for the children, and work towards supporting colleagues in achieving the same. No staff member should be performing another task whilst supervising the children.
Be a passionate educator and strive to achieve ‘Service’ goals (as outlined in Policy Manual) and ensure our ‘Service’ philosophy is reflected in daily practice.
Assist in the collection, recording and evaluation of children’s records and observations, as required by Department of Education and Communities and National Quality Standard.

What you will bring

A commitment to high quality outcomes for children
Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
Current Working with Children Card (Blue Card)
Current Senior First Aid Certificate
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and strong interpersonal
Understanding of the Early education and Care Regulations, National Quality Framework and The Early Years Learning Framework

Weipa - Rio Tinto Weipa is located 900km north-west of Cairns on the Gulf of Carpentaria and has been operating for over 50 years. Construction of the Amrun mining operation, located 40 kilometres southwest of Weipa, was completed in late 2018 expanding our bauxite operations to continue production from one of the world’s premier bauxite deposits.
