- Full time continuing position based at the ACU Melbourne campus

The Human Resources Directorate delivers employment related services to all staff and supports the strategic objectives of the University. Human Resources delivers the staff (user) employment experience throughout a staff members appointment at the University.
Employment Relations and Safety manages the development and implementation of the employment arrangements for staff and the work, health and safety requirements of the business in the legislative and regulatory environment/s in which the university operates.
The Work Health and Safety Officer supports the Manager, Work Health and Safety and Wellbeing with a range of services in the University's Work Health and Safety Management System including, coordination and participation of local WHS Committee and Workers' Compensation/ Return to Work to meet the University's legislative requirements.
More specifically the role entails:
- Coordinating and administering a range of Work Health and Safety (WHS) services, for NSW and VIC, performed in the context of the Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS).
- Ensuring appropriate numbers of staff First Aid Officers are recruited, trained, and engaged about responding to incidents.
- Supporting WHS committees and Health and Safety Representatives (HSR).
- Contacting and liaising with the Victorian OHS regulator about relevant notifiable incidents.
- Advising staff on the application of WHS risk management methodologies.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training and/or experience including relevant work experience.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of occupational health and safety legislation and regulations, and a commitment to developing a working knowledge of Work Health and Safety Legislation.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting internal staff or other stakeholders to assess and manage risk.
- Ability to act with discretion, sensitivity and handle confidential information.

Total remuneration valued to $93,237 - $100,193 pa, including salary component $78,786 - $84,664pa (Higher Education Worker Level 6), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
