About the Scholarship
Bacterial contamination on various surfaces of medical devices, industrial pipes and food packages is a global concern. Nanomaterials play an important role in antibacterial applications primarily due to their large surface area and size-dependent properties. Coating of polymeric materials with nanomaterials is a promising approach to resist bacteria adhesion and enhance bactericidal properties.

We are looking for candidates who will work on a specific project on the:
i) Literature review of different technologies for antibacterial coatings on polymer using nanomaterials;
ii) Formulations/ Development of antibacterial coating of carbon-based materials on polymer;
iii) Testing of the properties of novel coating and the adhesion capability on polymer &
iv) Application of the tested coating on polymer by different methods.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
A Bachelor Honours (First Class) or Research Masters degree in Material Science, Chemistry, Mechanical/ Chemical engineering or equivalent
A background in research that is relevant to the project
Experience in conducting scientific research through the use of literature
Experience in conducing laboratory-based experiments
