About the Opportunity

The position of NEIS/Business Trainer requires the teaching and assessing of students in recognised NORTEC Employment and Training programs. You will be responsible for delivering face to face and online NEIS Training to participants to develop NEIS Business Plans, which enable the transition to NEIS Assistance. You will be scheduled to deliver accredited small business training modules that maintains ASQA Compliance requirements in an engaging and proactive style to support the development of suitable NEIS compliant business plans.

You will be part of a dynamic, progressive training team delivering and assessing the skill sets within the SIT30616 CIII Hospitality qualification including RSA, RCG and Barista training programs across our Mid North Coast footprint. Experience and ability to deliver and assess housekeeping training programs is also desirable. Your role is part of our Employment Preparation & Training business unit that includes the RTO, the Skills for Education & Employment (SEE) Program and the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) program, delivered as part of jobactive commitments.

You will have experience in creative delivery of the training packages, have a solution focused attitude, and self –motivation to bring new opportunities to the RTO, along with good operational knowledge of quality and expectations of the VET sector and the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).

This opportunity is available on an Outer-Limit Term Full Time contract until 30 June 2022 to the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the successful delivery of nationally endorsed Training Packages/accredited courses and/or customised industry courses. This includes training in the classroom and/or assessing trainees in their workplace, and preparing appropriate resources and classes based on Training Packages.
  • Provide accurate and current data about the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) to potential participants.
  • Provide detailed unit/module outlines, assessment guidelines and tools, for students and trainees.
  • Deliver schedule face to face and online accredited small business training modules to participants that maintains ASQA compliance requirements in an engaging style to support for the development of suitable NEIS compliant business plans.
  • Monitor and review program activity and standards to ensure funding guidelines are met and comprehensive records of participation and outcomes are kept.
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure training activities are complementary and utilise NORTECs existing knowledge, expertise, resources and industry/business links.
  • Maintain knowledge of VET industry initiatives in line with the organisation contracts and programs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the Training department and wider organisation.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Build strong rapport with each client to ensure they are motivated to achieve maximum outcomes for entry into the NEIS Program; support the business sustainability and progress of their business.

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Qualifications

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor; or TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus the following units: TAELLN411 (or its successor) or TAELLN401A, and TAEASS502 (or its successor) or TAEASS502A or TAEASS502B; or a diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education
  • Certificate III in Micro Business Operations (BSB30315) or equivalent
  • Certificate III in Hospitality and/or higher
  • Current Working with Children Check clearance for NSW/QLD or ability to obtain it prior to commencing employment and willingness to undertake AFP National Police Check.

Knowledge and experience

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in relevant vocational industry including demonstrated experience in training and assessment in a competency-based training environment and an understanding of nationally endorsed Training Packages and accredited courses.
  • Proven ability to manage a busy and varied schedule
  • Demonstrated experience with VET Quality Framework and understanding of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015.
  • Demonstrated awareness of understanding the issues encountered by disadvantaged learners, particularly long-term unemployed people and adult learners.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office suite user, especially Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of online learning teaching methodologies with the ability to facilitate, train and assess using this method.

Skills and attributes

  • Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels including an ability to build, maintain and support student relationships and divisional growth opportunities.
  • Demonstrated capacity to interpret guidelines effectively, plan, implement and review training programs and assessment tools, for nationally accredited qualifications.
  • Proactive, can-do attitude.
