  • Full-time, 12 months fixed term (with a possible extension subject to availability of funding), a base salary of $93K - 103K p.a., plus leave loading and a generous employer’s contribution to superannuation

About the opportunity 

Reporting to Professor Fariba Dehghani, the Research Associate in Computational Modelling of Biomedical Flows will conduct research using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) individually and coupled to study the performance of valved conduits designed for implantation into children during heart surgery.

About you

  • a PhD (or near completion) in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics (or a closely allied field) from a recognised institution
  • strong experience in computational modelling for biomedical or similar flexible material systems
  • an outstanding track record in solving computationally demanding problems
  • experience in solving Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) problems
  • a strong record of achieving research outcomes (including conference and journal publications)
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills with high level of competency in both written and spoken English. 

The following would also be highly valued, although not required:

  • experience in using Ansys CFD and FEA software
  • familiarity with the Linux operating system
  • ability to program in languages such as C or Python.
