William Angliss Institute is the Government endorsed specialist training provider for the foods, tourism, hospitality and events industries and is recognised as Australia's leading provider of training for these key industry sectors. The Institute aims to provide excellent education and training services for industry, students and government in Victoria, Australia and internationally.

We are seeking to appoint a qualified, experienced and passionate individual to fill the position of Disability Officer to work closely with the Institute’s Disability Liaison Officer, in supporting our students with disabilities to achieve their education and personal goals. This is a fixed term part time role until 31 December 2021 at 19 hours per week.

Your responsibilities but not limited to:
Assist and provide administrative support to the Disability Liaison Officer.
Foster student independence and self-advocacy to encourage independent learning.
Monitor and assist student’s specific learning needs.
Coordinate student support arrangement process to ensure teaching departments understand the requirements of students with a disability.
Coordinate Education Access Workers to assist students with a disability in an appropriate manner.
Maintain accurate and timely records for all students with a disability

You will need to have:
A relevant degree level qualification in Disability Services or similar discipline with relevant work experience’ or a suitable combination of lesser qualifications and significant relevant experience.
Demonstrated relevant experience preferably in disability services in the tertiary sector.
Knowledge of emotional, physical and behavioral needs of people with disabilities.
Knowledge and understanding of relevant State and Commonwealth legislation pertaining to the rights of people who have a disability and the responsibilities of educational institutions.
A sound understanding of reasonable adjustments in an educational context.
An ability to being able to prepare individual access plans for students with disabilities.
The ability to provide appropriate advice, support and referral services to students with a range of disabilities.
High level or organizational, record keeping and computing skills including word processing and database and management.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral.

Please note: A current National Police Check and Working with Children Check is required for this role prior to commencement.
