JOB DESCRIPTION

The Casual Teacher - Casey Tech will support the development and delivery of future-oriented STEAM and Project-based Learning programs at the Casey Tech School.

The teacher’s primary function will be to develop, teach and facilitate the delivery of leading-edge, STEAM-based, discovery and innovation learning programs to students in the new Casey Tech School. Particular emphasis for this role will be on providing technical expertise to support learning in any of the following industry-based STEAM disciplines: Health-care, Biomedical technologies, Electronics; Robotics; Renewable Energies; Virtual Reality; and Advanced Manufacturing systems.

These positions require experience working as a teacher in the secondary education or vocational/TAFE sector; however, the position may also suit a graduate teacher with contemporary educational experiences and related industry expertise. A passion for collaborative, project-based learning and significant proficiency within the fields of science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM) is essential.

The incumbent will be a key and active participant of the Casey Tech School team who will ensure educational excellence, student and stakeholder satisfaction, and he/she will contribute to a motivated, effective, respectful team and working environment.

Focusing on excellence in learner support, teaching delivery and learning assessment, your key accountabilities will be to:

Graduate or Bachelor Degree in Education or Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116
Qualifications in any of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts or Maths disciplines
Plan education practices and delivery sessions that reflect the most effective way to engage learners
Develop and deliver planned teaching sessions in a variety of innovative and adaptive ways, using technology, including Moodle, to engage learners and meet their needs and learning styles
Liaise with key stakeholders such as employers, schools and other education providers to explore pathway options for learners as required
Implement the Institute’s Educational Excellence Framework across all teaching and learning practice
Maintain professional development by ensuring educational currency and excellence and actively participating in the development of own annual professional development plan in line with Institute practices and policies

ABOUT YOU

You will have relevant tertiary qualification in:
Demonstrated experience teaching STEAM disciplines within the educational sector
Experience working in STEAM areas, particularly Health-care, Biomedical technologies, Electronics; Robotics; Renewable Energies; Virtual Reality; and Advanced Manufacturing systems Experience working in collaborative teams, including team-teaching partnerships
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong understanding of contemporary education pedagogies, including Project-Based Learning and Maker-centred learning
Strong interest in STEAM education and in innovative STEAM industry practices

Crucial to your success will a strong understanding of contemporary approaches education, teaching and learning. A proven track record in design and delivery of up to-date and engaging programs in conjunction with the ability to motivate and guide students to optimise their learning outcomes.

You will have the ability to quickly develop rapport with students and colleagues from a diverse background in a collaborative and innovative environment. As well as having a firm understanding of educational administration tools and practices.
