  • Based in UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences at the City East campus
  • Two full-time positions, one continuing contract and one fixed term contract until 1 April 2022
  • Salary range: $64,166 - $72,321 per annum (plus superannuation)


About The Role

Reporting directly to the Team Leader: Diagnostic Laboratory, this position will provide technical support in the day to day operations of a busy microbiology/immunology discipline laboratory. The Technical Officer will be required to provide guidance and advice to staff and students to ensure laboratory procedures are adhered to and a safe environment is maintained.

Core Responsibilities
  • Prepare Microbiology buffers, media and cultures
  • Troubleshoot and quality control the Microbiology and Immunology buffers, media and cultures
  • Assist honours students by providing guidance and advice on techniques, processes and the latest technological advances
  • Demonstrate the safe use of equipment, methodologies and procedures for Microbiology (food and clinical), Immunology, and Food Biotechnology
  • Safely dispose of all biohazard and waste materials.


Essential Skills And Experience
  • Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent skills, knowledge and experience in microbiology/immunology
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide technical support to teaching laboratories
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide advice and assistance to undergraduate and postgraduate students working in the laboratory
  • Demonstrated capacity to ensure adherence to Work Health and Safety guidelines.
