Position Description

Trainer & Assessor- Diploma of Business BSB50120

AIMS Institute of Training and Technology is a budding organisation in the process of attaining our registration as an accredited training provider with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).

We have a contractor role for suitably qualified Trainer/Assessor interested in joining our motivated and enthusiastic team to deliver the Diploma of Business (BSB50120) training program.

Initially, the Trainer/Assessor will be held on a retainer as we move through the RTO application process which can take up to 6 months.

All courses will be delivered online two days a week via ZOOM/MS TEAM.


The Trainer and Assessor are to develop and deliver high-quality training and assessment services to AIMS Institute of Training and Technology‘s learners and to provide suitable training support services.


The Trainer and Assessor have the following duties and responsibilities:

- Develop training and assessment resources, where required.

- Contribute to the development of curriculum, teaching methods and resources and student assessment procedures.

- Conduct industry consultation.

- Undertake assessment moderation and validation activities.

- Participate in AIMS Institute of Training and Technology’s continuous improvement activities, which includes providing suggestions and identifying opportunities for improvement.

- Plan training and assessment sessions.

- Deliver and coordinate training in accordance with the requirements of the training strategy using suitable and effective training methods.

- Conduct assessment in accordance with the principles of assessment and the planned assessment strategy.

- Undertake your own professional development activities to continue to develop competence and currency of skills and knowledge.

- Liaise with AIMS Institute of Training and Technology’s Student & Administration Manager to coordinate the flow of documentation to ensure student records and operational data is kept accurate and up-to-date.

- Maintain equipment and training aids to ensure they are serviceable and safe for operation.

- Monitor the safety of students and staff at all times and put students’ safety first.

- Deliver services that focus on the individual student in relation to identifying and meeting student’s individual needs.

- Protect the privacy of students in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

- Perform duties in an ethical and professional manner that supports an inclusive learning environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.

- Respect the needs of each student and make an adjustment to training and assessment to accommodate these needs of individuals without compromising the integrity of the desired outcome.

- Create an environment that supports and encourages equitable treatment and behaviour from all students and those contributing to learning and assessment.

- Report non-compliance with legislation or AIMS Institute of Training and Technology’s policies and procedures immediately to the Student & Administration Support Manager.

- Model ethical and professional behaviour to set the benchmark of these qualities for students and others.

- Undertake vocational planning interviews with prospective students to provide detailed information about the demands of training and assessment and to evaluate a person’s motivation and intent to pursue their desired career.

To be considered for this role, you will possess:

Relevant and current business experience.

Academic teaching experience in VET, including planning and designing training/assessment materials and student engagement and assessment.

Ability to further develop teaching expertise, including the use of technology for teaching and learning.

Ability to update student records and mark assessments in a timely manner and in accordance with AIMS’ policy and procedure.

Experience and commitment to work in a cross-cultural environment and support students from diverse backgrounds Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining industry and VET currency.

Key Selection Criteria: Successful candidates must

A. hold a qualification in Diploma of Business (Preferably BSB50120 qualification) or higher.

B. hold TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or its successor) or TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment with the following units

· either TAELLN411 or TAELLN401A and

· either TAEASS502 or TAEASS502A or TAEASS502B

C. have a minimum of two years of current professional experience in the business/marketing sector.

D. have excellent communication and presentation skills
