JOB DESCRIPTION

ECU’s Social Work course seeks to develop students ability to
work within a complex, uncertain and contested social work practice
environment by developing their professional competencies. The Field
Education component is an important element for student development
and an integral part of the Bachelor of Social Work degree.

We are seeking to appoint an appropriately experienced and
qualified placement support officer with excellent organisational,
administrative computer/system skills to assist in supporting our
placement program. Familiarity or proficiency with the “SONIA”
placement system will be highly regarded.

The focus of the role is operational and administrative support
of the placement program, which involves liaison and activities with
students, staff and external agencies. This position will be a “SONIA”
specialist: leading the administration of, and inputs into, the
system, developing the processes and workflows that facilitate and
improve the functionality and levels of support, liaising with
Busines/Software support on technical issues, and guiding others to
use the system proficiently.

As a member of the Field Education Unit, the role may also
assist in establishing, supporting and managing partnerships with
field placement providers, and supporting our students on placement,
to facilitate placements opportunities that comply with AASW
requirements and meet the individual student’s learning needs.

Ideally, we would like the role to work over the week, but we
are very happy to discuss hours and flexibility.

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Diploma or
equivalent level of expertise plus subsequent experience

Strong administrative and governance skills, from demonstrated
experience in providing efficient administrative support within a
large organisation,
  • A working knowledge of SONIA, or
similar/other placement systems;
  • Effective interpersonal skills
and team skills, with the ability to build strong professional
relationships; and
  • Familiarity and experience with placement
programs (knowledge of Social Work placements would be advantageous).

You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent

Benefits & Remuneration

This part-time, ongoing positions attract a remuneration of
$73,257 - $81,404 pa (HEW 5 per annum pro rata 40%) plus 17%
university superannuation contribution.
