Position Summary This position will provide provide strategic leadership and support for CALD families to access and attend kindergarten and support children to transition from kindergarten to school in 2021. Temporary full time for 6 monthsCirca $95k plus super and RDO Council Civic Centre, 301 Hampshire Road, Sunshine The City of Brimbank is a multicultural municipality located in the western and north-western suburbs of Melbourne, between 11 and 23 kilometres west and north-west of the Melbourne CBD.About the RoleThis role will support and foster a wide range of strategic partnerships with Council, Department of Education & Training, Early Years Management and local CALD Community organisations. Key areas of focus for this position include: Supporting children to transition to school in 2021Supporting children to engage in kindergarten in 2021 and 2022Promotion of Free Kinder initiative and Early Start Kindergarten for Refugee and Asylum Seeker children.Identifying vulnerable CALD families and children eligible for three-year-old kindergarten, four-year-old kindergarten and Early Start Kindergarten in 2021 Duties Identify and contact CALD families experiencing difficulty accessing a kindergarten programProvide appropriate and culturally relevant support and guidance to familiesRefer families to other services and supports where requiredBuild collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, including Pre-School Field Officers, MCH nurses and Best StartBuild collaborative relationships with external stakeholders, including kindergartens, Early Years Management services, Long Day Cares and local CALD community organisationsParticipate in working groups to assist with increasing participation rates for CALD childrenParticipate in internal and external meetings as requiredParticipate in continuous improvement and program developmentRegularly liaise with the Early Years Service Access Coordinator on areas of key responsibilityMaintain data for CALD children supported to attend kindergarten and provide attendance reports to the Department of Education when required Skills & Experience Relevant formal qualifications Degree or Diploma in Community ServicesExperience in working with CALD FamiliesExperience in social research, policy development and service planningKnowledge of a range of Education and Care ServicesExperience working in Local Government Working at BrimbankFor Brimbank City Council employees and Council, to be the best at what we do and achieve the community vision and Council’s strategic intent and mission, our actions and decisions are guided by a set of five fundamental and unifying values: We show Respect, We act with Integrity, We work Together, We Communicate openly, We strive for Excellence.Benefits Make a difference in the communityFlexible working arrangementsWork close to home
