Manage and coordinate efficient and effective delivery of the School of Education’s Employment Based Pathway into Teaching program.

Deakin University offers an accelerated initial teacher education (ITE) employment-based program which will see industry professionals retrain to become qualified to teach priority employment areas in secondary teaching and early childhood education The School of Education is looking for a highly skilled Program Manager who will manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Employment Based Pathway into Teaching Program.

As Innovative ITE Programs manager you will be responsible for the overall logistical and operational management of the program including the matching of all program participants to participant schools and early learning centres and ongoing mentoring and support; leading the advertising and promotion of the program; the management and coordination of key academic and professional staff and external stakeholders involved in and across the program and; maintaining relevant data and information related to the programs, and facilitating appropriate processes involved in the program evaluation.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the delivery of the multi-year Employment Based Pathway into Teaching program including coordinating all the operational aspects of the program, ensuring all program objectives and timelines are met.
  • Designing, coordinating and leading activities that will provide high-level support to the Head of School and relevant Course Directors in the selection and admission of program participants and their subsequent matching with a suitable school or early learning centre.
  • Constructively contributing to the program by collaboratively working and developing strong relationships and maintaining links and partnerships with all the stakeholders.
  • Leading the design, development and implementation of a framework to effectively mentor and support all program participants throughout the life of the program to ensure retention and completion within the program.
  • Monitoring and reporting on all the key program outcomes to all stakeholders through comprehensive and timely reports, including the program budget, for the life of the contract.
  • Managing all advertising and innovative promotional activities relating to the program.
  • Leading the design and development of instruments and measures for the collection, analysis and dissemination of data, as well as the maintenance of records and ethical compliance for data storage and retrieval.

To be successful, you will have:

  • An equivalent combination of training and experience or a Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline with work experience within the early-childhood school and VCAL/VET sectors.
  • Experience in managing educational projects within an education-based system.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage a program of work in a multi-disciplinary team, including managing timelines, overseeing quality control processes and developing high level reports for external audiences.
  • Excellent presentation, consulting/negotiating skills, including the ability to build, coordinate and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • High level conceptual thinking ability and proficiency in managing, structuring and analysing information and data for educational research, including the ability to apply high standard for data collection, data entry, analysis and record-keeping.
  • Demonstrated capacity in the diagnosis of problems and in providing innovative and practical solutions in a timely manner.
  • Proven capability to work positively and effectively as part of a collaborative work team, to accommodate and work well with different working styles and to work independently where required.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and plan, and to meet rigid and conflicting demands and deadlines, along with the ability to adapt to changed priorities.
