Karratha Senior High School (SHS) is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, organised and energetic teacher to join their Engagement Team.

The successful applicant will possess the ability to develop, implement and assess engaging relevant integrated curriculum experiences that cater for individual student learning needs. We are seeking a teacher keen to engage and instruct students through implementing the Restorative Practise Learning & Engagement (R.P.L.E) Program. RPLE is a vitally important program in our school. It provides an intensive, supportive learning environment for a small group of students who have complex learning needs. We provide a positive and caring alternate environment to school, that enables the students to engage and access education and support to address individual issues. The focus of the RPLE program is Respect, Regulate and Reconnect and the curriculum content is primarily based around social and emotional development.

The RPLE program is supported by an AIEO and/or a Student Support Officer and involves working with other agencies to support the individualised needs of the students. You will have to possess highly developed interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and be able to work cooperatively in a team environment. The capacity to develop rapport, build relationships and motivate students is essential. The ability to differentiate curriculum to cater for individual student needs and to practise a range of teaching strategies are a strong focus for this position.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
