This is a nine (9) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 2, 2021 with possible extension twelve (12) months and/or permanency

Kulin District High School (DHS) is looking for a Mathematics and Science teacher to join their team

The successful applicant will be able to work as part of a team, focussed on developing engaging and relevant learning experiences and building positive relationships with colleagues and learners. With effective interpersonal skills you will work closely with our school community to instil our school values of Striving with Confidence and Respect and Striving to Succeed. We are looking for applicants who will uphold the school values of treating all individuals with care, building relationships with trust, showing mutual respect and the accepting responsibility.

To be successful in this role, the Mathematics\Science teacher will have the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding to teach Mathematics and Science up to Year 10 level and with lower secondary students to improve student outcomes. Recent experience focused on lifting students’ achievements to reach national benchmarks and strong digital technology skills would be advantageous.

Kulin DHS caters for students in years K-10 and is located in the Central Wheat Belt just over 100kms east of Narrogin. Most of the students live on farms and travel to school on one of the seven buses that service the area. Many of the secondary students who graduate from Kondinin Primary School also attend Kulin District High School maintaining stable numbers in the high school. The school is well resourced with facilities that include an information technology centre, science laboratory, a new engineering and technology centre, home economics, art and library rooms.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
