The Oocyte Biology Research Unit in the School of Women’s and Health aims to focus on the mechanisms mediating oocyte quality and developmental potential. A focus on cellular and molecular biological techniques will be employed using animal models and human tissues. The group is also fully incorporated within the Royal Hospital for Women’s Division of Gynaecological Services and the Centre for Reproductive Medicine, providing seamless access to clinical services and clinical research material.
The group is looking to hire a Research Assistant who will support ongoing investigations and carry out specific experiments in the field of oocyte and ovarian biology. The Research Assistant will provide a high level of expertise and support for a variety of research projects within the broader Oocyte Biology Research Unit, including conducting research experiments under supervision.
To be successful in the position you will have:
- A university degree in Science, Health Science or related discipline (preferably including a research component, such as honours), or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training or experience.
- Previous experience in a laboratory environment, with high level techniques in molecular and cell biology and mouse handling and dissection
- Previous experience in administrative processes involved in ordering, ethics, and laboratory maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, with evidence of ability to accurately plan, execute and document experimental research
- Flexibility in hours of work where required when working with ongoing experiments, and willingness to travel off-campus.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills
