JOB DESCRIPTION
- contribute to and promote the development, alignment, attainment and review of the mission and strategic goals for Brisbane Catholic Education
- work closely with others to promote and develop student wellbeing, emotional resilience, positive relationships and a sense of community
- collaborate with other role holders such as the APRE and Guidance Counsellor in supporting the faith, spiritual and pastoral needs of students
- provide appropriate referrals for students in accordance with school approved protocols and processes
- promote positive partnerships within and beyond the school community
- a Certificate IV in Youth Work; or a Certificate IV in Pastoral Care; OR
- an equivalent qualification; this certificate or equivalent must include a unit of competency in ‘mental health’ and ‘making appropriate referrals’
- meets the National School Chaplaincy Programme’s Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Have a strong commitment to the Catholic ethos of our school
- Have good communication and personal skills
- Previous demonstration of the ability to work with a team of people to provide a supportive caring environment for children
- Ability to work closely with others to promote student wellbeing, emotional resilience, positive relationships and a sense of community
- the local school, its community and BCE as having the skills, experience and qualifications to deliver school chaplaincy to the school and its community
- by the faith-based community through either formal ordination or, commissioning or, recognised religious qualifications or, endorsement by a recognised or accepted religious institution
- have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
- hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement; and
- be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
We are seeking a School Chaplain to support the faith, spiritual and pastoral needs of students. This can include support and guidance about ethics, values, relationships and spiritual issues; the provision of student welfare; and enhancing engagement with the broader community.

St Ann’s School, Redbank Plains, is a Brisbane Catholic Education school which opened in January 2020. The school is located 35 minutes southwest of the Brisbane CBD between Ipswich and Springfield Lakes.
Commencing in 2020 with approximately 100 students from Prep to Year 3, it is anticipated the school will grow to over 500 students by 2025, with Prep to Year 6.

To be successful in this role you will:

Position Tenure: Fixed Term
Weeks Worked: School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required: 10 hours per week - days negotiable
Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate: School Officer Level 5 - $33.53 per hour
Employment Conditions: Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement
This position involves working with children. The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
