About us

Education Services Australia (ESA) delivers products and services for a range of clients including the Australian government, State and Territory education jurisdictions, statutory authorities and a variety of not-for- profit and government organisations.

The Digital Services area manages the design, delivery and promotion of a portfolio of online products, services and projects. This includes the Careers team, which delivers career information and education services with a focus on myfuture, the national online careers service.

The role

We are looking for a Program Director, Careers Education to lead ESA’s response to the career education needs of Australian students. You will lead a team responsible for the delivery and promotion of career services including the national online careers service, myfuture.

You will;

  • Work closely with the General Manager, Digital Services to develop and implement a strategy to position ESA as a leading contributor to careers education for Australian students and implement a strategic business plan for myfuture
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with key stakeholders, including chairing the myfuture Strategic Reference Group, liaising with jurisdictional representatives and industry partners
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to pursue new opportunities in careers education, including new product development, engagement of subject matter expertise, insights papers and tender responses
  • Attend key forums and conferences, including undertaking research in order to support best practice career education delivery 
  • Provide line management, support and mentoring to staff to ensure their development and well-being needs are being addressed
  • Participate in ESA leadership meetings, working with the members of the leadership team in a manner consistent with ESA’s values and agreed behaviours.

About you

  • Extensive experience and expertise in career education or career development services
  • Meets CICA Standards for Professional Career Development Practitioners
  • Understanding of the career development policy landscape and key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to influentially articulate a vision and encourage and support others, whilst building valued and trusting relationships
  • Ability to identify, articulate and address user and stakeholder needs and challenges.
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with a web-based solution would be highly desirable
  • Willing to represent Education Services Australia at conferences and forums, including interstate travel if required (when travel restrictions are lifted)
  • Qualifications in Education and/or Career Development or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training required.
