ABOUT THE HUDDLE


Born out of the role and value of sport and the influence the North Melbourne Football Club (NMFC) plays in connecting people across different ages, genders, and cultures; The Huddle was established in 2010 as the community arm of the Club in partnership with the Scanlon Foundation and the Australian Multicultural Foundation.

It was established to engage, support and empower young people to build on their strengths, increase their ability to participate in society, and contribute to more socially inclusive communities. The Huddle works with some of the most iconic sporting clubs in the world to help young people learn, grow and belong. Through the design of its innovative programs, The Huddle leverages the power of sport to strengthen social inclusion, education, and careers for young people.


ABOUT THE ROLE


Reporting directly to the Manager of Education and Careers the primary responsibilities of the Careers Coordinator will include:


  • Manage and coordinate The Huddle's careers pathway program – Game Changers.
  • Maximise participant engagement with careers at The Huddle. Establish visible and robust pathways from social inclusion and education programs into work-ready workshops and work opportunities.
  • Mentor young people employed through Game Changers at The Huddle, providing feedback and on the job education.
  • Develop new relationships and sustain existing partnerships to fund new and current work opportunities for young people within The Huddle workforce.
  • Manage volunteer Career Coaches, including logistics, relationships-building, ongoing support, expectations, and feedback.
  • Build a network of school career counsellors, coordinators, and other youth service organisations to identify opportunities for collaboration, exchange knowledge, and best practices to strengthen career support for young people.
  • Manage and maintain data collection of participants and education networks using data collections software.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting young people in education, training, and/or workplace settings in a professional capacity
  • Comprehensive understanding of career education and on the job learning experiences that prepare young people to navigate the world of work
  • Experience providing advice and mentorship to support the career development of young people
  • Outstanding organisational skills
  • Solutions focused attitude with a growth mindset
  • Enthusiasm and passion for learning and development
  • Team oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Police Check and hold a valid Victorian Working with Children’s Check and Drivers Licence.
