The Role

As part of the strategic plan for the University’s IT Security, Risk & Information Management environment, the Manager Information Security & Risk reports to the Director IT Services. This position leads a small team and has both strategic and operational responsibilities working closely with other senior leaders to ensure the quality, timelines and effectiveness of services provision in accordance with Murdoch’s IT frameworks, processes and practices.

Skills and Experience

The preferred candidate will:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to develop, implement and take ongoing ownership of the IT security and risk management strategies for the University. This includes all staff in project and operational roles to enable effective assessment of security risks present in the development, acquisition or implementation of technical solutions and maintenance of existing environments
  • Drive and develop the implementation of performance measures and maintenance of best practice IT policies, procedures and standards and quality assured practices. Manage and consult with key internal and external stakeholder group to collaborate, educate and inform in all matter related to IT security, compliance and risk management.
  • Lead the IT Disaster Recovery Planning activities, coordinating ITS and Risk management stakeholders to ensure relevancy and currency.
