The opportunity

As a Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor you will be expected to lead and develop a central NMR facility within the Griffith Sciences Group. You will have an outstanding international research profile, shown significant contribution to the profession/discipline, be committed to teaching excellence, and will actively and effectively supervise honours and postgraduate research student projects. Ideally, you will also have expertise in solid state NMR or the capability to acquire this specialisation for Environmental applications, building on a good theoretical understanding. The position will be a predominantly Research and Service role, with some teaching, within the School of Environment and Science.

The appointee will be expected to play a senior leadership role within the School of Environment and Science, developing and leading a centralized NMR facility that services a range of researchers based in one of the six aligned research institutes and a fee-for-service to external industry clients and partners. The appointee will undertake research in their chosen area of expertise, lead infrastructure and research grant applications and oversight the necessary training of postgraduate students and post-doctoral researchers. Expertise and experience in both liquid and solid-state NMR applications is preferred and / or an ability to acquire the solid-state specialization building on a good theoretical understanding. The position will also be required to undertake some undergraduate teaching and higher degree research supervision within the School of Environment and Science.

This is a continuing, full time position based at the Nathan campus. Griffith is a multi-campus university and therefore it is understood that this position will work across campuses as required.

About you

You will be a highly committed NMR spectroscopist and researcher, with experience of facility management. You will have a proven ability to train and supervise postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers, and a willingness to collaborate widely to disseminate best practice in NMR. You will have a limited teaching load in a relevant area and in addition to managing the facility will have a developing research profile that aligns with one of our leading institutes or centres. Expertise in solid state NMR for environmental applications is preferred, or a willingness to take on this specialisation from a good theoretical background.

Salary range

Associate Professor, Level D: $141,967 - $156,405 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $166,102 - $182,993 per annum.

Lecturer, Level C: $117,905 - $135,955 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $137,949 - $159,068 per annum.
