About the Job
It is an exciting time to join Swinburne and we are looking for a driven leader to come join the new Employability Unit, supporting Swinburne’s employability and Work Integrated Learning agendas that will be available to both domestic and international undergraduate students across IT, Science, Business, Engineering, Arts, Design, Health and more.

You will be responsible for the strategic leadership, development and implementation of the University’s career development and employability priorities to align with Swinburne’s strategic learning pillar. You will also oversee the student-focused services that align to the University’s strategic goals on employability. Additionally, you will be accountable for the ongoing development and implementation of key co-curricular programs, including Emerging Leader, Professional Purpose and Digital Programs and delivering scalable models for students and faculty to engage in careers and employability programs and services.

Reporting into the Director, Employability, you will bring expert knowledge of career development and employability to lead a team of professional staff delivering the University’s career services and employability programs. As the role is connected to a network of careers professionals across the sector, you will be required to collaborate across the Employability team, and more broadly within the University, to promote career development pedagogy and its links to broader University strategies, including work integrated learning.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
  • A postgraduate qualification in career development education and extensive relevant leadership experience; or extensive management experience and proven management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, combined with the proven ability to exercise considerable expertise and initiative, and assume responsibility for the development and implementation of strategies and/or major initiatives and projects
  • Extensive tertiary education experience in stakeholder-centered practice for employability delivery, building a culture of scalable, personalised, digitally supported student experiences
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, with the proven ability and confidence to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders including senior managers, academic and professional staff, students, industry and external vendors
