About the role

At RMIT, we’re committed to accessibility, diversity, and inclusion. We believe everyone should be able to easily use and enjoy the RMIT website, apps, our digital platforms and digital signage.

As the Digital Accessibility Advisor, you will be an advocate for digital accessibility, sharing knowledge, advice and tools to the broader university. You will provide central oversight, expert guidance, coordination, and support to RMIT’s marketing and IT departments with a focus on promoting, assessing, and maintaining digital and information technology accessibility. You will also support RMIT content authors to create accessible content for students, staff, the public and prospects through the development and delivery of professional development resources, training and advice. 

To be successful in this role, you will have experience in, but not limited to:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the digital accessibility field, with strong digital accessibility literacy;
  • Knowledge of and experience with assistive technologies (JAWS, NVDA, ZoomText, ClaroRead, VoiceOver, Dragon NaturallySpeaking) and mobile screen readers (TalkBack and VoiceOver);
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing professional development through information provision, consultancy advice and training;
  • Experience working effectively in highly collaborative, agile, team-oriented environments.

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
