About the role

The Flight Training Ground Theory teacher role comprises of two significant operational requirements being Learning & Teaching and the effective management of students’ progress.

In this position, you will teach ground theory classes involving a number of different cohorts (locally, offshore and ADF), impart knowledge and provide guidance to students to support their practical flying, as well as coach and mentor them in preparing for the program and their regulatory examinations. You will work within the Flight Training L&T team and assist to build and design course material (including on-line delivery methods) and assess and supervise their capability. In addition, you will also support students to complete their program on time by overseeing and managing their progress. This includes the operational interface between the student, the flying schedule and theory delivery timetable.

About you

As the successful applicant you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of aviation and flight training industry and educational principles
  • Extensive experience delivering Pilot Ground Theory Instruction within the CASA or Defence Aviation Safety Authority regulatory requirements for Aircrew operation and ability to develop flight training learning resources
  • Demonstrated capacity to diagnose learning problems in students, propose and implement effective solutions
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies, preferably experience using a Learning Management System such as CANVAS and extensive use of Microsoft Office 365 suite of products

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Minimum Commercial Pilot Licence (Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating and ATPL CASA exam credits Preferred)
  • Minimum 500hrs flying experience
  • Current Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116)
  • AQF6 or above including a Tertiary Qualification

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to:

  • Holding a Working with Children check
  • Holding a Department of Defence security access pass
  • Australian Security Identification Card (ASIC)
