The Preschool is looking for a full time professeur des écoles. This is a contract position from July 12 2021 to June 30 2023.

The French-Australian Preschool is officially recognised by the French government (homologuée). It is also an accredited long day care operating under Australian Early Childhood Law and Regulations, managed by a board of parents. Located in Canberra, the preschool offers a progressive immersion program in French based on the French preschool curriculum and the EYLF for 132 children aged 3 to 5.

Teaching in an Australian accredited long day care requires adhering to Australian pedagogical and regulatory principles which have different characteristics from the French system. It also means maintaining a close partnership with families who participate fully in the life of the preschool. Our teachers are also expected to be room leaders.

Unless candidates are permanent residents or Australian citizens, it is essential to obtain a 482 TSS Medium Term Stream Visa in order to teach in our preschool.

Candidates will need to demonstrate a strong command of the English language to obtain their visa as well as to communicate with the preschool stakeholders, to be able to write Australian pedagogical documents and to enrol in early childhood studies (please see below).

Successful candidates will have a Certificate III or Diploma IV, Early Childhood Education and Care or start working on these qualifications as soon as their position commences.

The successful candidate will

· Have a French professeur des écoles degree ;

· Demonstrate experience and excellent knowledge of the French education system, particularly the preschool level;

· Demonstrate experience and excellent knowledge of the Australian early learning education system, (NQF, EYLF);

· Be a French native speaker and have excellent written and spoken English skills ;

· Have excellent team work skills, be flexible, hardworking and open-minded;

· Have great listening and communication skills ;

· Demonstrate experience in team leading;

· Demonstrate experience and ability to maintain partnership with families;

Contract length: 24 months

Salary: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
