About This Opportunity

As the Technical Officer, you will provide specialist technical support for the Institute for Molecular Bioscience’s research activities by fault finding, repairing and maintaining scientific and laboratory equipment.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus.

Our Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Electronics or electrical trade certificate, diploma, associate or advanced diploma or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.
  • Queensland Restricted electrical licence or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment and the ability to quickly diagnose and rectify faults in unfamiliar equipment.
  • Knowledge and skills to safely work on mains powered 240VAC equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of general engineering and safe use of hand/power tools to manufacture basic parts.
  • Sound computer skills and ability to learn different applications.
  • Great attention to detail with good organisational, interpersonal and communications skills to meet client needs.
  • Highly motivated with a strong level of initiative.

Scientific, biomedical and/or analytical industry specific training; or experience in repairs & maintenance of scientific, biomedical and/or analytical equipment is highly desirable

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position for two (2) years at HEW level 5.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $70,796 - $78,852, plus super of up to 17% and recreation leave loading of 17.5%.
