The Governance Division supports and enables governance at UNE. The Division encompasses the University Secretariat, the Records Policy and Governance Unit, Audit and Risk. We currently have an opportunity for a person with a passion for and experience in governance to head up the Secretariat Office reporting to the Director Governance and University Secretary and working with the Council and leadership team of the University.

About the role

The Head of Secretariat leads the Secretariat Office and supports the Director Governance and University Secretary in the coordination of the business of the University Council and its Committees, of the Academic Board and its Committees and of the Boards of select UNE Controlled Entities. The Head of Secretariat works closely with members of the governing bodies and senior management and academic leadership and is pivotal in supporting effective reporting, oversight and decision making at the University.

Skills & Experience

Candidates for this role should have a strong work ethic, a high level understanding and experience in governance support, the ability to develop a deep understanding of the operations of the University and apply that knowledge to support continuous improvement in governance practices. Candidates should evidence the high level of integrity required for this role and the capacity to communicate and interact effectively and positively with Council, board and committee members and leadership across the organisation.
