Our schools are diverse, which means our students and their needs vary considerably and our School Psychologists have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of many young people. They work with young children and young people, providing early support and follow them through their education journey. 

School Psychologists apply their psychological expertise to support students to achieve cognitive, emotional, social, physical and spiritual wellbeing. They provide counselling and psychological assessment of students, to complement and enhance the work of teachers to strengthen student learning and wellbeing outcomes. You will provide psychological counselling services to schools from Preschool to Year 12 across a range of metropolitan, rural and remote locations.

Essential Requirements 

• Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education and Training policies.

• Registered or provisionally registered psychologist.

• Valid and current Working with Children Check clearance.

• Ability and willingness to travel between work sites. This will require a current and valid driver’s licence with permission to drive by one-self.

Feedback from one School Psychologist is; Working within the system of the young person rather than outside it, I feel like I can make a significant difference from this position, and I feel like the young person genuinely believes me when I tell them that I am here to provide them support and to be on their team.

A recruitment pool is a group of applicants who have been assessed and identified as suitable for this role or similar roles, and who may be considered for a range of similar roles, including temporary, term or ongoing roles, over the next 18 months. 

As this is a child-related position, you will also be required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance number as a condition of employment (if you do not already have this). For more information, click here.
